Here are some of the terms Nadine uses:
Lateral Shortcuts® are innovative + effective + easy solutions and a powerful methodology for overcoming difficult challenges and transforming uncertainties into tangible opportunities. It discovers and leverages essences and non-obvious resources beyond the box. Nadine Meisel designed the methodology to be easy to learn and to apply, condensing the most powerful elements of Design Thinking and Lateral Thinking.
Design Thinking is a human-centered approach to innovation that draws from the designer’s toolkit to integrate the needs of people, the possibilities of technology, and the requirements for business success.” (Tim Brown, president and CEO of IDEO). It is an iterative and user-centered methodology, and is most powerful when applied in interdisciplinary teams.
Lateral Thinking is solving problems with an indirect and creative approach, going beyond the obvious, as contrasted to step-by-step logical or conventional thinking. Edward de Bono began popularising the term in 1967.
Strategic Design is the application of future-oriented design principles in order to increase an organisation’s innovative and competitive qualities. Strategic design is about applying some of the principles of traditional design to “big picture” systemic challenges like health care, education, and climate change. It redefines how problems are approached, identifies opportunities for action, and helps deliver more complete and resilient solutions.” (Wikipedia)
Beyond the Box
Beyond the Box expands the concept of “outside the box”, which is a metaphor for novel or creative thinking from an unconventional perspective.
Wakeys are short, dynamic exercises to awaken and boost innovative energy and team spirit. Nadine Meisel created a tool kit of more than 200 1-15 minute exercises , Wakeys, to be applied during a workshop or training. Each Wakey is designed for a specific purpose.
